New Delhi: The Republic Day parade in the capital Delhi is going to be very special this time. In fact, for the first time, the Indian Army’s MRSAMhttps://bdl-india.in/MRSAM1 (Medium Range Surface to Air Missile System) will be seen in the Republic Day Parade. Indian Army Lieutenant Sumedha Tiwari will lead it. Lieutenant Tiwari said that the specialty of this missile is that it engages enemy drones, fighter jets and cruise missiles at long range and destroys them. It provides area air defense to our critical assets.Multi functional radar will also be visible on the duty path. This is an advanced radar which gives information about the entire area to the MRSAM system. Its range is about 300 kilometers. The supersonic missile is launched from the MRSAM launcher.
This missile has been developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in collaboration with Israel’s IAI company. Surface-to-air missile, army weapon system consists of command post, multi-function radar, mobile launcher system. The weight of MRSAM is around 275 kg. Length is 4.5 meters and diameter is 0.45 meters. 60 kg warhead i.e. weapon can be loaded on this missile. It is a two-stage missile, which releases less smoke after launch. Once launched, MRSAM can directly engage targets up to 16 km in the sky.
