DELHI AIR POLLUTION: The air quality has drastically changed since Diwali morning, with pollution levels exceeding 900 in several areas. Noida, too, recorded an AQI of 500. The pollution has peaked in areas like Lajpat Nagar and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.
DUE TO AIR POLLUTION IN DELHI, GOVT. BANNED FIREWORKS ON DIWALI OCCASSION
Even though fireworks were banned in Delhi for Diwali, there were still a lot of them. As a result, the air quality in the entire NCR region, not just Delhi, has become very bad. Delhi’s air quality has gone beyond 900, and the government has called a meeting to address this. Pollution has increased a lot, up by 140% in the last 24 hours. The air quality in Delhi has worsened again one day after Diwali. The most harmful PM2.5 particles in the air were measured at 200.8 at 7 AM this morning, compared to 83.5 the morning after Diwali, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
AREAS AFFECTED IN DELHI DUE TO AIR POLLUTION
The pollution has increased not only in Delhi but also in the NCR region. According to CPCB data, areas like Rohini, ITO, and Delhi IGIA have seen PM2.5 and PM10 pollution levels rise to 500. Meanwhile, several areas, including Lajpat Nagar and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, reported AQI levels above 900. While Delhi experienced its best air quality in eight years on Diwali, the Supreme Court’s order violation led to AQI crossing 500 in most areas this morning in the NCR region.
MEASURES TAKEN BY DELHI GOVT. TO COMBAT AIR POLLUTION
The government places air quality measures in colorful locales to measure the quality of the air. These measures serve analogous to thermometers and help determine the air quality. Poor air quality can lead to increased discomfort in the eyes, throat, and respiratory system. The most significant threat is for children and the senior. During similar times, numerous people may witness difficulties in coughing and breathing.
